Tips to get the best rental home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking a perfect Charleston area rental:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Boutique Home & Resort Pool ‘The Palms’ has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
