Our top Rental booking tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best rental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Charming Classic Beach Home w\/Private Pool, Chair Lift, Dog Friendly & 2 Master Suites! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
