Strategies for getting the perfect rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beach Chic Meets Classic Charleston+Bikes~ICW\/Waterway& Restaurants A Few Blocks has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
