Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- To get the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Charleston area rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Quaint 2 Bedroom/1 Bath Downtown Charleston has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
