Finding the best Charleston vacation home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental home in Charleston:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Fire Tower King Street 2 Story Condo has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
