Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, change your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental:
- To start, have your family agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Vacation Villa 5 mins to King ‘The Palmetto Palm’ has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
