Tips for getting the perfect Charleston vacation rental experience:
When to book a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. To get the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:
- Start by having your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 1905 Victorian Historic Home Just 2 Blocks To King has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
