Tips to get the very best Charleston area vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Start by having your family choose date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 125 Grand Pavillion by AvantStay
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
