It's calming and peaceful and provides the ideal location for walking to tons of eateries, movie theatre, public golf course, music venue, boat landings and one mile from the county park that offers walking/cycling trails, playgrounds, splash pads, climbing and the only dog park on the island.

Just mins. to downtown Charleston & Folly Beach!
The space
Live oaks provide a canopy over the bungalow and many windows make for a elegantly, well lit spot with tons of natural light. Open floor plan offers a big bay window with bistro seating, a kitchen with pantry, coffee pot, toaster oven, and wall oven, and the living room is cavernous with a couch, bookshelf, coffee table, and huge TV. The bedroom is just off the living room where you'll find a the separate laundry room, queen bed with two nightstands, dresser, closet and a bathroom that features an alcove.
Guest access
Coastal Cottage is located in the back of the half acre lot. In the front of our property is our sister Airbnb: Live Oak Retreat. It features a 3/2.5 one story home. Guests of Coastal Cottage park directly in front of their home. Guests at Live Oak Retreat park on the left side of the driveaway and along the side of the deck and carport. The right side of the driveway needs to remain open so Coastal Cottage guests can access their home. We have never had any issues with parking but want to make sure all guests are aware of how to share the parking space.

Finding the best Charleston rental home experience:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.

  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
