Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your family agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Angel Oak Suite - King St \/ MUSC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
