Property is managed locally by Southern Charmed Hospitality Group so someone is always available should any issues arise.
Established in the 1700s, Harleston Village is dotted with Georgian and Italianate buildings on tree-lined streets. Bordered by the Charleston Harbor, historic Broad Street and both the College of Charleston and the Medical University of SC, Harleston Village is conveniently located in the heart of the city in a highly pedestrian friendly area that has parks, corner cafes, stores, and bars, providing a prime downtown address with one of the highest prices of walkability and bikability in the city.
The home has one of the best locations downtown so walking and cycling are the easiest ways to get around. Uber and Lyft are also readily available downtown should you need a taxi.
HOME
Guests should note that this is an historic home (Charles Magwood House) constructed in 1823-24 and while modernized, has traits of a home over 200 years old including original wood floors, `old home smells`, etc. If you feel you may have issues with residing in an older home and are highly sensitive to mild allergens or smells associated with a property such as this it would be best to book elsewhere.
The home is a huge, historic multi-unit complex with a grandiose main home and smaller carriage homes in the rear. The owner lives upstairs in the main home. The remodel of the exterior of the property is still a work in progress.
MINI-SPLIT SYSTEM
The unit has mini-splits in every room and the full system is connected to the main residence upstairs, with the homeowner having control over the heat and cool settings and guests having control over the fan speeds and whether the units are turned off or on. In transitional temperature months like spring and fall, there may be a few days where the system has not been switched over by the homeowner from heat to cool, or vice versa. There are ceiling fans and a space heater to provide additional comfort
PRESENCE OF ANIMALS
The homeowner has three very friendly dogs that may be present in the yard at any given time.
PARKING
There is no parking onsite. Guests with cars will need to arrange for parking on their own by researching public parking in the area. The nearest public parking garage is a 1/2 mile from the home.
CANCELLATIONS
Guests will receive a 95% refund up to 30 days before check-in. After that, no reservations are given.
DAMAGE DEPOSIT
A $500 damage deposit will be pulled from the card used for booking prior to the departure date. This deposit will be completely returnable to the card within 5-10 business days after departure if there are no claims made for damages.
HOME MANUAL
The home manual with all of the details needed for your stay will be sent out at 9am THE MORNING OF YOUR ARRIVAL directly in the message thread of the account used for booking.
Please do not ask for it earlier, or ask for it to be sent elsewhere.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
Your safety and comfort are our priority. In the unlikely event of a MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR CHARLESTON COUNTY during your stay, rest assured that both the Owner/Host and the Property Management Company WILL REFUND 100% OF YOUR PAYMENTS for the dates of evacuation. Once refunded, neither event will have further liability regarding your Reservation.
Please note that ONLY MANDATORY EVACUATIONS WILL QUALIFY FOR REFUNDS. No other travel disruptions due to weather, whether in South Carolina or other states, are eligible. For protection, consider travel insurance, especially in high-risk months like hurricane season. Airbnb`s insurance or other options are recommended.
INSECTS
As Charleston is located in a warm, coastal climate it is possible to see insects inside or outside of the home at times. These include palmetto bugs, sand gnats, mosquitoes, ants, etc. Those who live in the Lowcountry just accept this as part of living here but it may be unsettling for those from other areas. The home is treated regularly for pest control but this will not entirely eliminate insects from getting inside at times. Please do your best to not keep doors and windows open and not leave food or drinks out in the home as this will attract insects. FINDING AN INSECT IS NOT CAUSE FOR A REFUND
