Tricks and tips to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:

When to visit Charleston & When to book:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick the best Charleston area vacation home:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Charming Victorian Home: King in Five (Suite A) has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
