Getting the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book a perfectvacation home:
- Start by having your group agree to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 2 Bed Great Location - Close to King Street has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
