Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book the bestrental:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. ?Glamorously renovated downtown home ? Parking + Yard has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Charleston area destination you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
