The Neighborhood:

The French Quarter is the oldest section of Downtown Charleston, bounded on the south by Broad Street and the north by the City Market. The condo is less than 100 steps from the famed Pineapple Fountain in Charleston's extravagant Waterfront Park and the close by dog park. The neighborhood is home to the Charleston Art Walk, an evening held many times a year where Charleston residents and visitors alike savor gallery hopping and wine tasting along its storied streets. Here you will also find theaters like the famed Dock Street, churches, inns and secret gardens waiting to be discovered. Charleston's historic French Quarter is a modest neighborhood on the Southeastern corner of the peninsula, with Broad, Meeting, East Bay, and South Market streets acting as perimeters. The neighborhood is filled with historic churches and museums, theaters, art galleries and even some haunted cemeteries. The French Quarter may be the most charming of Charleston's districts, and is ideal for leisurely walks, exploring historic sites, and immersing yourself in centuries of city history.

Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental:

  • First, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Historic Downtown Condo Steps from the Pineapple Fountain & Restaurants has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area beach you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
