Tips to get the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Luxurious Retreat - NEAR King - Amazing Balconies! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
