Tips to get the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To get the best rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect vacation home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Charleston Charmer - House close to King St! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
