How to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. True Southern Historic Charm by the Battery with Enchanting Charleston Gardens has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
