How to find the best rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the right Charleston area rental home:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront Villa in Wild Dunes w\/2 Master Suites & Community Pool! Great Views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
