How to get the best Charleston area rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Duncan House
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your group.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
