Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Cozy townhome just 10 mins to downtown! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Additional considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
