How to book the best Charleston vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Pet Friendly & Convenient 2 Bedroom with private fenced in yard and Hottub has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
More considerations:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
