Our top Rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your budget:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best rental in Charleston:
- Start by having your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Pet Friendly & Convenient 2 Bedroom with private fenced in yard and Hottub has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
