Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston area vacation property experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Charleston. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Folly River Condo - Pool \/ Dock \/ Balcony with a view! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
