A Stones Throw is a minimum 30-day 3-bedroom, 2-bath Short term home rental on James Island in Charleston, SC. You will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally located home away from home. We would adore to do shorter-term units yet the town of James Island does not allow short-term units for less than 30 days unless the owner lives on the premises. Feel complimentary to reach out for additional information on what this home has to offer.
It’s a 1500 sq. ft. ranch home closely located to downtown hospitals, The College of Charleston, and The Citadel in addition to multiple event venues here in the Low Country. Our home is roughly 4 mins. from downtown Charleston, less than 8 miles from Folly Beach, and less than 15 miles from the Gardens and Plantations West of the Ashley.
Our brick 3 bedroom two full bath home is freshly modernized. The home features: bedroom 1- queen with full bath, bedroom 2-queen, bedroom 3- two twins, 1- double (pull-out couch), and a twin (den couch). In addition, there is a living room, den, dining room, eat-in completely-equipped kitchen, and laundry room with a washer and dryer. There’s a 55-inch intelligent TV as well as high-speed internet. For the little one, there is a high chair, stroller, car seat, and pack-and-play.
For the guests who like to prepare and or entertain, there is an overabundance of options for dishes, chargers, glassware, linen napkins, silverware, serving dishes, and table settings for hosting all types of gatherings. The fire pit is idyllic for appreciating bourbon and cigars by the fireside.
There’s also outdoor living space on the 16x16 backyard patio equipped with a charcoal grille, event lights, a table for outdoor dining, a sitting area for beverages and conversations as well as a fire pit for informal gatherings. We have ample room in the backyard for hosting modest events such as oyster roasts, family gatherings, as well as yard games.
For our beachgoer guests, there is an outdoor shower to help keep the interior sand complimentary, comfortable, and cozy during your stay.
There is off-street parking as well as additional parking next door at the recreation center.
To safely allow the 4 legged family members to frolic and play, there is a doggie park directly behind our home with a doggie bath station! For the 2 legged family members, adjacent to our home are two playgrounds, a public swimming pool, inside basketball courts, baseball fields, and loads of additional parking if needed. The max. number of dogs is 3.
Feel complimentary to reach out for additional information on what this home has to offer.

Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Finding the best rental home in the Charleston area area:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Close to downtown Charleston, hospitals, colleges, and Folly Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
