Booking the best rental home experience:

When to visit Isle of Palms & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Charleston area rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the best rental in Isle of Palms:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Quiet street, Minutes Walk to Beach & Rec Center -Perfect Family Beach Home! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
