Booking the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Charleston area vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Charming Ground Floor Suite 6 Blocks To King has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
