How to book the best rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect rental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Charming 2-bedroom West Ashley home in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
