My wife's comment upon stepping into the space was "perfection." It is clear a lot of care and thought went into this place to maximize the guest experience. We would rent again! -Steve

Bowens Island Restaurant – 1870 Bowens Island Rd. - (10 miles) A bare-bones fish shack with spectacular vistas. Sunset on the deck is beautiful. Enduring, counter-serve icon on the waterfront, serving up fresh seafood within graffiti-covered walls. A unique Lowcountry experience serving Charleston since 1946. First come, first serve, no reservations.

Husk - 76 Queen St, Charleston, SC 29401 · (4.4 miles)
Centrally located in historic downtown Charleston, Husk transforms the essence of Southern food. Executive Chef and Lowcountry native, Travis Grimes, reinterprets the bounty of the surrounding area, exploring an ingredient-driven cuisine that begins in the rediscovery of heirloom products and redefines what it means to prepare and eat in the South.
Home Team BBQ - 1205 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29407 · ( 1 miles)
At Home Team BBQ we have taken a unique approach by bringing the fundamentals of the “white tablecloth” world to the low and slow ideals of BBQ. In our BBQ eateries, we believe in keeping it fresh and local, and sending guests happily on their way after a good time has been had by all.
The Glass Onion - 1219 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, SC 29407 · (1.1 miles)
The Glass Onion is one of Charleston’s original home-grown neighborhood-based, locally focused, all natural eateries. Owner and Executive Chef Chris Stewart opened the restaurant in 2008 with fellow culinary colleagues. It was one of the first places in town to support local farmers and purveyors on nearly every dish and drink on the menu.
Every Saturday from April 8 to November 25, the Charleston Farmers Market is held downtown at Marion Square from 8:00am to 2:00pm. It’s the ideal opportunity to sample the best of Charleston all in one place and you’ll find local farmers, artisans, performers and food trucks lined up along the park to showcase their finest. Satisfy your caffeine itch with a freshly brewed coffee, indulge in a savory crepe or hand-pick your own produce.
Morris Island Light House. Although you can’t actually get to the lighthouse itself without a boat, it’s still a ideal spot to go for a long, peaceful walk along the water. Go to the north end of the island until you reach the cul-de-sac, then park your car and walk 10 mins. until you reach the private beach facing the lighthouse — you’ll be completely saturated in nature, surrounded by only sand and water. Stick around for sunset and admire the vibrant colors reflecting off the water that surrounds you.
Charleston can be an expensive city if you don’t know where to look. To help stick to your budget, try checking out some of the city’s best freebies, like taking a complimentary tour at the Charleston Tea Plantation or admiring the impressive floral display at Hampton Park. The Angel Oak is one of Charleston’s top attractions and it’s completely complimentary. I recommend spending a full day walking around downtown to visit the historical sites; you’d be surprised how many of them offer complimentary entry. You can also book a complimentary walking tour with Free Tours by Foot and choose between four different focuses: the Civil War, haunted Charleston, history or architecture. If it’s sweltering hot outside, cool off in the splash fountain at Waterfront Park.
Known to Charleston locals as Botany Bay, the majestic beach officially known as the Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve and Wildlife Management Area is a must-see for those seeking a magnificently preserved stretch of shoreline. Countless seashells are sprinkled between hundreds of elegant deadwood trees emerging out of the sand and water — you’ll feel like Tom Hanks in Cast Away on this untouched and carefully protected seashore. It is closed on Tuesdays and better at low tide.

Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Charleston. To get the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Escape the Ordinary! Charleston Cottage! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
