Strategies to get the best Charleston area vacation home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing yourrental:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. The Jasmine Suite at 265 Rutledge has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
