Our top Charleston rental home booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Spacious Updated 3 Bedroom Apartment has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If not, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
