How to find the best Charleston vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best vacation home in the Charleston area area:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 1 Block to Bars & Shopping
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
