Tips to get the very best Charleston area rental home experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking your prefectrental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Radiant Retreat
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
