How to get the best Charleston rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Cooper Suite
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, email the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
