Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summer months are high season in Isle of Palms. To find the best rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in Isle of Palms:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront, Renovated w\/ screened porch & community pool - 33 Beach Club has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
