Getting the best Charleston area vacation property experience:
When to go & When to book:
- To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Modern Townhome close to Folly Beach and dwntn Charleston! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
