Getting the best Charleston area rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • First, have your family select the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The Nicholas Veranda King Room
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If not, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
