Our top Charleston rental home booking tips:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
