Strategies to get the best Charleston vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing yourvacation home:

  • Start by having your family choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Stunning Renovation and Design! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area beach you crave, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
