Tips to get the very best rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Charleston area vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Boutique Hotel Home w/ Pool 'The Bermuda' has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.

Advice for your stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
