Finding the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer is high season in Charleston. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. The Haven Home
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
