Tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the perfect rental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Liberty Place Charleston, a Hilton Club - 1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
