Tricks and tips to get the very best Charleston area rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Charleston rental home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Charleston. To find the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. The Davis - Beautiful Classic Charleston Home! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
