Getting the best rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. The Ashley Veranda King Suite with Breakfast has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
