Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • To get the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. The Ashley Veranda King Suite includes Breakfast has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
