Vacation rental home tips:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Steps to King Street - Historic 2 Bedroom has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
