Tricks and tips to get the best Charleston rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best rental in Charleston:

  • To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Charleston Carriage Home/1Block to King w/ Parking has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is best for your trip.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area destination you simply love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
