Getting the best Charleston area vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Charleston area vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking the bestrental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Pink House - Downtown Duplex - Sleeps 20 has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
