Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Sullivans Island vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Start by having your family commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
- 1307 Cove Avenue by AvantStay
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
