How to book the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:
- Start by having your family select the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Wellness Beach House w\/ Pool, Game Zone, Beach Access, EV Charger, and Views has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
