Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, shift your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental home in Isle of Palms:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Private Pool, Ocean views, 2-blocks to beach has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
