How to get the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Get the best value:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfect Charleston area rental home:
- Start by having your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Wonderful New Construction Home w\/ Private Pool! 6 Bedrooms and 6 Full Baths! has 6 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Charleston area destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
